The tree decides the shape. The natural edge is left entirely intact, and the crack through the heart of the top is filled with a river of black resin. No two tables are alike.

Where the tree ends and the table begins
A tree-trunk table only succeeds if you can still see the tree in it. So we do not tidy this slab up: the natural edge stays raw, the grain runs right out into the edge, and the main crack is not hidden but filled. Black is a deliberate choice — timeless, calm, and it lets the walnut speak instead of competing with it.
Smaller cracks outside the river are stabilised with butterfly keys in pale, contrasting wood. Never in a fixed place, always following the crack, from small to large. Every table gets its own pattern that way, determined by the slab we choose together.
We keep the base low and clean: a trestle frame in matt black steel that subordinates itself to the top. The top is the statement.
Design details
- Live edge — the natural, unplaned edge. The shape of the tree stays fully visible.
- Black epoxy resin — the main crack is filled with black resin, the most timeless choice.
- Edge profile — a slightly rounded top edge, a sharp lower edge. Soft at the table, a clean silhouette from the side.
- Butterfly keys — in pale contrasting wood, only where the slab calls for it.
- Base — a trestle frame in matt black steel, low and clean.
- Finish — oiled. The wood stays tangible and is easy to maintain.
Specifications
Every slab is different. That is why we choose the width within a fixed range of 90 to 100 cm: narrower becomes too tight for six, wider no longer fits comfortably in a standard dining room. Other lengths or more seats are possible on a project basis.
